Software plays a major part in so many aspects of life today that its quality, reliability and cost has an effect on each of us. This course is intended to provide a broad introduction into the general concepts of software quality, compliance with ISO 9001 and TickIT and developments internationally in this field.

Like most things software development is a process. This process comprises of a sequence of events culminating in the production of a piece of software. The manner in which this software is developed and controlled can have a large bearing on its suitability and reliability.

Although there are numerous examples of good software, there are also examples of software which does not achieve its intended function.
